I am exhausted!! Please tell me "good job!"

I started with a dirty kitchen. Do note, everything on the counter and in the drainer is clean. I was waiting for DH to put them away. And waiting.........and waiting........and waiting. I finally got sick of it today and decided between barstools, kick stools and crutches, I WOULD manage to get it all done.

I mopped, cleaned the counters (with my new counter spray mom - it smells SO good!) I did all the dishes, put them all away and organized the towel/cookbook rack. I filled the fridge w/ water bottles and root beer. Put away the collection of cereal, chips etc that collected on the counters. Cleaned the stove off. I also vacuumed again (heaven help me) and cleaned the cat room. I even dusted!!

So I'm being homesick

So I'm making a list of "My favorite things" about coming home.

1. HUGS!!
2. Family and friends.   I miss you all!
3. Food! OTB, Jack Stack, BD's, the Melting Pot.  Sigh.
4. Sunshine
5. FLAT ROADS!

Freebies

I've been following a freebie blog and requesting samples and such from various places.  If anyone wants me to do it for you let me know :-)

Cast is off, brace is on.  I don't have to sleep in it but I have to protect my foot - if it turns the wrong way it really hurts.  I can take the brace off to shower - woohoo! and stretch/flex my foot to work the muscles.

2 weeks till Cocoa Beach - yippee!  I'm so excited!  Kt and I are going to have so much fun, even if I do have to take my crutches for the walking days.

DH is almost done refinishing the coffee table - I can't wait to post pics, its so pretty.  Much nicer than the yellowy oak color it was before.  Yuck.

Camry has a new love -- pudding cups.  Everytime DH is eating one Camry comes RUNNING from wherever he is and meows madly until DH lets him sniff the cup.  He doesn't want to taste it, just sniff it.  He gets very yowly if he's denied.  It is hysterical and DH loves it.  I love how bonded DH and Camry are.  They play together at night and such.  So sweet.

This is a Thank You post to those of you who listened to me cry yesterday, sent nice emails, offered hugs etc.  You are appreciated so much.  I swear I wouldn't be able to handle the pain etc if it wasn't for you all.

Crutches

Oy.  I'm getting calluses on the heels of my hands from the crutches.  They have winguts on the screws of the hand-holds.  These are dangerous - particularly when vacuuming.  I gouged a round spot out of my thumb knuckle today trying to vacuum on crutches.  Yeow!  I am SO sick of sitting down to do showers and I WANT TO SCRATCH MY LEG with something more than a knitting needle.  Hmph.  Also I want to DRIVE!  Poor DH is so sick of the grocery shopping.  Its so funny how hard it is for him to find things in the grocery store.  (And by "funny" I mean supremely frustrating for the both of us!)  I also want to be able to do laundry, rather than rely on DH to do it.

It's getting chilly here.  Love it.  I'm cuddled up w/ a soft blanket and my heating pad for my headache.  Ahhhhhh.  Its the little things in life.  Even Camry is more cuddly in the cold.

See all the little round dots near the bottom of the picture?  Crutch marks.  You should see me hop around from one dry spot to another!  Stupid rain.  We've got flash flood warnings for the next 4 hours.  The creek out back is full again - no more dry creek bed.  I managed to empty the dehumidifier -- a major accomplishment with crutches!! Set up a box fan and moved a box out of the way of the drain.  Mom - the goodwill box is soaked!  Oh well.  May just dump it all in the trash now.  I can't move the carpet piece that's laying there on crutches but it's been soaked before.

All this makes me so grateful I didn't get really slammed by the hurricane etc.  This is so minor compared to others.

Rant

Oy.  I am SO sick of sneezing and it hurts my sore throat and my tummy is so sick that sneezing makes me "nervous" if you get my meaning.  Sigh.  Hello benadryl, my best friend in the world.  You are marvelous in your drugging abilities and frustrating in your blank stare-inducing properties.  I am so grateful for you!

Happy Labor Day!

My labor for the day is a sink overflowing with dirty dishes.  Sigh.  I refuse to do dishes until DH puts the clean ones away ---- so it's about 4 days worth of dishes.  Oy.  I'm dreading the mess.  Maybe I should start doing them daily and just keep piling them on the counter.  At least I have coffee - DH bought some Tassimo at the store since I'm STILL waiting on my order from them.

DH got the yard mowed this weekend -- the front already looks like it needs it again.  Stupid rain!

I have laundry to do, Christmas cards to start on and dishes to wash.  Wish someone was here to keep me company!! :-)  Whine whine.  I am SO sick of this cast and crutches.  I'm getting to where I just want to kick something every time I move around.  Argh!  So frustrating.  I want to just take my leg off or something.

Camry's toy

So when I got up this morning, alllllllll of this yarn was in a big knot. (To be fair, they were a bit tangled in the bag to begin with.) However now this knot was dinner-plate sized. Camry had fished the pink ball out, the one in front. He drug the yarn all over the living room, around tables, chairs, pillows etc. Then into the kitchen and back into the living room. Can you say "dangerous situation for crutches"?? DH had come in the living this morning when he woke up -- caught Camry mid-mess. He told Camry "ooooooooo you are in TROUBLE!" I sat on the floor and wound alllllll the balls back up so no more trip-hazard. What a mess. Crack me up.

Heeheehee - Camry got a new toy

DH came home from shopping with a cat toy - green and yellow feathers on the end of a stick.  Camry went NUTS!  Instantly comes running over, attacks it and pulls off a yellow feather in 1.5 seconds.  When I tried to hide the toy so I could type this blog he started running from one side of the recliner to the other popping his head up like a meerkat trying to find it.  He is DESPERATE to kill the feathers.  Oh my word.  Best present ever!!!!!!

My theme of the next 5 weeks I think...

He took up living in the pantry
And ate everything in sight.


Stupid cat.  Lot of good he did!!  He ate granola bars etc.  Mom is going to buy mousetraps today etc.  Stupid mouse.

Things I have learned so far

About being in a cast:
1.  Mom's are a wonderful marvelous thing!!  You want them around!  Especially ones that are both calm, reassuring and sympathetic.  They manage the situation and get everything done while helping you feel taken care of.
2.  Casts are not a wonderful thing.  You get itchies underneath them, they make you sweat, they weigh a TON and are generally a pain.
3.  Not having your hands available makes pockets necessary.  I have taken a recyclable grocery bag and made it mine.  I have my pain meds, water, book, cell phone etc in it so I can hang it around my neck when I move.  I may need to wear my apron around for the same reason.
4.  Kids like to stare at people on crutches.
I'm sure there will be more things I learn as this goes on.

Meet Herman

This is Herman. He lived down the road and Mom found him on her walk today. He is the prettiest shade of red-orange and has spots. Mom brought Herman home to live in our yard. Anyone know what kind of lizard he is? Isn't he so cool!?!

Escaping Cow!!!

So I'm driving 55 down 220 on my way home.......and I see this jumpy movement on the side of the road.  Its a 4 lane highway and its on the right shoulder.

Drive a little further, still can't see what that moving thing is....but people in front of me are slowing waaaaaaay down, and there are cop cars w/ lights on going the other way towards us.  I slow down too, and lo and behold, there's a COW running full speed down the side of the road.  I mean, she was HOOFIN it! (hahaha, ahem.  Sorry.)  As I come up near it, it slows down and boy, her tongue is hanging WAY out.

About a mile on down the road I see several guys walking along the road, and a trailer w/ the back end busted out.  No idea how that happened but it gave me major giggles!

Bathroom improvements

So DH and Ian built me 2 sets of shelves for the bathroom. We have a miniscule bathroom - no room for ANYTHING so any extra shelving is appreciated! I painted them this last week and got them all set up yesterday. Yay for more space!

This is my new makeup case - ALL ORGANIZED!! I went through all my mulitple bags that were everywhere and sorted it all at once. Threw some out, bagged some to send to Jackie if she wants it, and organized the rest. Yay me! :-P
