Happy Monday...

So here's a smile for those of you who need it. My honey and I were watching TV last night and saw a guy pole vault. I said that looks like so much fun, so much more than the "far jump." My poor husband looks at me saying "You mean the LONG jump?" Yes, I'm apparently blonder than my hair. I said well, it's not the high jump so it's a far jump!! I'm such a dingbat.

I'm running around doing laundry and laying out clothes today for my trip back home (and to Joplin). I'll be gone for 3 wks and will attempt to post something during that time but no promises -- especially since I'll be visiting those who read my blog! :-) Yay for family, friends and scrapping lessons! :-P

Simple Pleasures

I love being able to have more than one cup of coffee if I want it since I can use my coffee pot again! (Bought a new carafe since the movers broke my other one.) And "Mudslide" creamer -- yummmm!

I met more really nice people yesterday. I went to the chiropractor (awesome adjustment) and his office lady was SO nice and told me about all the festivals in town. I figured I'd list them in case any of them interested ya'll. Obviously I missed some in July so I'll start w/ September when I'll be back in town.

Sept 5-7 - Niagara County Peach Festival --- YUMM!!
Sept 20 - Lewiston Country Fair
Sept 27-28 Harvest Festival and Craft Show.

I'm most excited about the Peach festival - I'm always good with food!!! Apparently they make a peach cobbler that's to die for!!

Have a great day all!

(And by the way - I just saw on TV a Chihuahua and Lab mix. Now not to be too inquisitive but....HOW ON EARTH!?!?!?!)

Random Thots

I cannot believe that it is the middle of July and I have the windows open and I'm under a BLANKET b/c it's chilly w/ the ceiling fan on. This weather is definitely taking some getting used to.
I cannot believe how much laundry 2 people can generate - and how I forgot about that fact while I was working and my husband did most of it.
I cannot believe I made it home from the grocery store on my bike w/ 2 bags of ice!
I cannot believe my best friend is off to EUROPE w/o me in less than a week! And if she doesn't bring back a million pictures and stories and such I will be one unhappy camper!

weekend

Well we had a nice weekend, hope everyone else did too. My honey had a golf tournament yesterday in Canada - his group won. He won a fancy drill thing which was nice. We found a new place at lunch yesterday - it's a little bldg on the river that looks like a mushroom. In the center is the cooking area, they do hamburgers, hotdogs, ice cream etc. then you eat on a deck that runs all around the outside. If you sit on the river side you can see waaaayyy down the river, you get the nicest breeze and it's so nice! Today we went for a run and a bike ride around town. We stopped at a local bakery for some of their bread and cranberry jam. It's pretty good stuff! Anyone who comes up will have to stop by these little bakeries. They have miniatures pies and cakes, assorted biscotti etc. It all sounds very yummy!

Plans

Yesterday, as some may have heard, my bathroom light fixtured attempted to set my apt on fire - shooting sparks and staining the ceiling w/ smoke. Scared me to death! I got it shut off and it didn't flip the breaker but it's very strange. It didn't burn out any bulbs, but one of the bulbs won't turn on. We switched it into a lamp and it worked there so it's not the bulb. Who knows, our landlord is supposed to get it taken care of today.

I found the library yesterday - they had a huge kids program going on and one of the kids had the giggles so bad it made me start giggling. So funny. I had lunch at the Orange Cat w/ Danielle - they're salads and sandwiches are really good and cheap!

Then my dear husband got home about 6 (I know - SHOCKING) and we went to dinner w/ Cole and Danielle. We went to an Irish Pub here in town - I had the steelhead sandwich which is a type of salmon served open-faced. (Kt you'd love it).

Today I am waiting to see when someone will come to look at the light fixture, and going over to play w/ Danielle's fluff-ball dog. Her name is Sophie, she's only a year old and this way she doesn't have to be alone for 12 hours while Cole is at work since Danielle is flying out this morning. Yay! An animal to play with!! :-) I plan to take a book and hang out there awhile so she has someone to play with.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Rambling

Yes, I'm bored so I'm posting 2x in one day. I really should go ride my bike but the tires need air and my husband has the air-upper. Yes I know that's not what it's called but it works - you knew what I meant right? So I am stealing a blog idea from the Queen of blogs (otherwise known as Kt).

Ten movies you’d watch over and over: Van Helsing, Bring It On, 10 things I hate about you, Transformers, Bad Boys, Armageddon, Hope Floats, A Man Apart, Coyote Ugly, Constantine.

Nine people you enjoy the company of: my honey, Kt, Mom, Dad, Brenda, Monica, Amy, Jackie, Valerie.

Eight things you’re wearing: Grey t-shirt, capris, scrunchie (don't gripe Kt, it's hot in here and I don't have the air on), glasses, invisiligns, unmentionables - and apparently you don't wear 8 things unless you layer or have shoes and socks on!

Seven things on your mind: When will he get home? Am I getting spoiled having cable? How many minutes do I have left on my cell phn? What is WRONG w/ mom's phone? What will we want for dinner? I want a cat! Why do we keep getting apts that are next door to smokers?!?!

Six objects you touch every day: Toothbrush. Laptop. Cell phone. Fridge. Comb. Dishwasher.

Five things you do everyday: Fuss w/ my hair. Drink coffee. Wonder when he's getting home. Play on the internet. Be amazed at the temperature difference here!

Four bands or musical artists that you couldn’t live without: Sugarland! Brad Paisley. Miranda Lambert. DC Talk.

Three of your favorite songs of the moment: "All I Wanna Do", "Last Name", "Gunpowder and Lead".

Two people who have influenced your life the most: Mom and Dad (I think they count as one) and Monica.

One person who has been nice to you today: Brenda - I've done nothing but gripe all day and she not only agreed but calmed me down and helped me feel better!!

Apartment Pictures

Ok, to all who have been so patiently (not!) asking, here are some pictures. The one of the master bdrm wouldn't post for some reason. The above is a pictures of the guest/scrapbooking room. It is actually organized at the moment as we are anticipating company soon and I won't be scrapping anymore until I get my new toys for my bday. :-) YAY!

This is my living room (and to the right you can just see my kitchen table), as well as work out room. Since he and I are both using the Total Gym and the exercise ball we just leave them out for now. Do notice we actually have pictures on the walls - yippee!

This is my kitchen/laundry area (as evidenced by the laundry basket that is my job today). I love the glass fronted cabinets, there's one at each end of the counter on the left, one has my dishes and one has my mugs. I have my ariel picture of my parents house that's framed hanging in the little nook over the sink which is very nice. Obviously my fridge is still being covered with anything and everything including a bday card, chuck-e-cheese photo of Kt and I, pictures of Brenda, Jackie, Arista etc.

So I hope ya'll have enjoy the tour, it's a nice apt (altho 2 wks is enough to convince me that black carpet is a BAD idea!) Have a good day - I'm off to do more laundry....

Yay for Pictures!

So my dear husband took me to Niagara Falls yesterday for my birthday - yay! My pictures are a little out of order but please enjoy! This close to the falls you can feel the constant mist - it's amazing. It was packed with people, we heard so many different languages and walked my poor little feet off! He said we probably did about 5 miles (I know Mom, to you that was nothing but it was all concrete so it was hard walking).
This is my gorgeous hydrangea bush - we have one right outside our door and it's warm enough now the blooms are starting to fade but it's still so pretty. I absolutely love it!!

This is the church that's across the street from our "condo complex". It's really old and we can hear church bells when the windows are open. I love that!

This is the "Horseshoe" part of the falls - it's on the Canadian side and the biggest part. If you look at the bottom of where the water is falling you see a pale shadow - that's a "Maid of the Mist" boat that you can ride. They take you so far up next to the falls that they are running their motors so hard you can see the water churn....just to stand still from the power of the water running over the falls. It's amazing - very humbling to see the amount of water and hear the roar.

This last pictures is of the American Falls - it's actually 2 different falls which I had no idea of before we went.

So I hope everyone likes the pictures -- many thanks to Kt for talking me thru how to post them!! I had a great birthday - we went out to eat w/ some of the other work guys and one's fiancee named Danielle. We had a hard time finding a resteraunt so ended up in I'm betting the fanciest place in Lewiston - it was Italian and I had the "linguine w/ clams".... Poor husband ordered this spaghetti dish and they asked if he wanted it with the (insert a word I couldn't pronounce and had no idea what it was). He asked what it was and she said "conkfish". You should have seen his face, poor guy. They brought him just simple spaghetti and he said it was ok. I could not quit snickering tho. Then we went to one of the resteraunt/bars in town and heard a live group sing for awhile - they weren't too bad. :-)

We hung my pictures today - yay! We're all settled now - so fancy. It's really nice to see them up - they never made it up in our last place b/c we kept anticipating the move....

Hope everyone has a good week - thanks for all the bday wishes. I even was serenaded yesterday - My honey's niece and nephew Arista and Orion and some of Arista's softball teammates got on the video call last night and sang "Happy Birthday" to me. :-)

New favorite food!

Lewiston has a novelty "Popcorn Store" and I bought a small bag of the "Water over the Falls" which had a mix of blue raspberry and kettle corn so it was blue and white. It was sooooooo good, very flavorful, not a single unpopped kernel and of course I got the bluest tongue ever!! Anyone who comes to visit I will have to put this on the "must visit" list along w/ the chocolate house!

DMV

Well I'm sort of official. :-) I went to the DMV here today in Niagara Falls and applied for my NY drivers license. They mail you the official one so all I have for now is a paper one. Now I have to get papers together to get the cars switched over and then I should be done. Thank heaven for my GPS (thank you Chad) which got me to the bldg w/ the DMV in it. However, it also houses the probation dept, sheriffs office and a work labor program center....and it is NOT in the best part of town. There was hardly any parking so I had to go across the street in the grocery store and just hoof it. The ladies at the DMV were SO nice. I didn't have to wait at all and they were very chatty, very interested in my opinion of NY and gave me all the paperwk to get the cars switched.
I've decided there can be too much bike riding in a short amount of time. Today it will just be walking - my poor rear is very sore. We spent a lot of money on my bike, you'd think they'd put a better seat on it than just the tiny little plastic one! I think I'll have to get one of those gel seats. It looks like rain here today so I'll wait a bit before I go for my walk. Hope everyone is having a great week. I've taken some pictures so hopefully once we get them downloaded onto my computer I'll try to figure out how to post them.

Yay - organization!

Well my honey was home today so now we're pretty organized. His first day to just chill in over 3 weeks - he's laughing at commercials that are so old....oh well. :-)
Well we sat in the picnic area out front of our complex and watched fireworks --- the big ones would echo endlessly off the hills and valleys around us - it sounded like the big "kettle drums" or thunder --- AMAZING! They would "boom" so loud that my pant legs would shake. It was nice.
We made it to the grocery store, I have more for lunch now than PB - yippee! I also got an early bday present from my "I never forget a comment" sister who remembered I liked "Urban Decay"'s makeup and got me a gift card to there to use online. I ordered a couple of waterproof eyeliners and some eyeshadow primer she assures me is very popular! I love to shop! I also got my first mail, a card from Kt and a card from Amy - thanks girls!!
We went to the Presbytarian (sp?) church that's just up the road from us today. It was different but really nice people. We walked to church, then walked to a small cafe for lunch and then just wandered around town. Brenda - there's a small "Chocolate House" place that you have GOT to come check out - it's so yummy! We fixed my bike for me so I could ride around this week - I have to get my new license at some point this week - it expires on my bday --- oops. :-)

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.

Yay for internet!

So I finally have internet again (and cable which I've never had before and am insanely over-excited about!) :-P We have most stuff unpacked - the apartment is smaller than what we had before, but it has oodles of closets. Therefore I think it will be better b/c we can put everything "AWAY" instead of having it "SITTING OUT EVERYWHERE!" (I'm quoting someone ---- wonder who that would be???)
I'm starting to get a little lonely - but there is still boxes to unpack and things to put somewhere - there is no closet big enough for my bike so I have no idea where it's going. Anyone who wants to come visit is more than welcome but the guest room is really small - so consider yourself forewarned.
I have managed to shower 2 days now w/o a shower curtain - the grocery store here (Tops -- why it's called Tops I have no idea) does not carry them and I forgot there was a Dollar General around the corner (which mom reminded me carries curtains.) Oh well, I didn't spray water all over so I am happy. They say there's a Sams, Target etc in Niagara so I assume we'll go exploring this weekend.
